Our Recent Placement: Be Like Jeremy

Alumni Spotlight, December 2020

Over the summer we began a working relationship with GrafTech International Holdings, a long standing and well-respected manufacturer of graphite electrodes for steel furnaces. GrafTech needed a Quality Assurance Engineer and so we found, screened and presented and corresponded with, Jeremy Kizuka, the latest addition to their corporate team.

Jeremy is an experienced, industrial problem solver with a degree in Chemical Engineering and a successful career stretching back 15 years. When we met Jeremy, he was being tasked with setting up a Q.A. lab at an essential oils farm. Nothing like this had existed there before, so his job was to build from scratch. This work revolutionized the operation, but he was eager to return to heavy industry.

Jeremy is a gracious, grounded guy with a great penchant for fixing things and developing people. In his new career, he is happy and thriving.

Alumni Success Spotlight

In this edition, we spoke to Jim Resosky of Eaton Corporation (pictured abover) about his experience as a Contract employee through Partners Alliance and his subsequent promotions to full-time and beyond.

Jim was a Program Manager at Fore Systems Marconi 17 years ago, overseeing every step of the process from design, engineering, prototyping, pilot runs and into mass production. He was laid off, however, and quickly began planning his next move.

A mutual contact introduced him to Jim Kalnas and he was offered a contract role at Eaton (then E. Cutler Hammer). Mr. Resosky had never worked as a contractor before and was reluctant, but after being “Set up for success,” he signed a 1 year contract and it “couldn’t have been a better choice.”

Within 6 months, Eaton recognized his strengths and offered him a full-time position. This launched him into the role of Regional Client Director, managing accounts in the oil and gas segment. Today, Jim handles several large, national accounts as well.

He describes Partners Alliance as the most competent staffing firm he encountered during his time between jobs and maintains a relationship with Jim Kalnas, occasionally trading hockey tickets outside work.

Every year, Jim expands his role as a natural fit for the job. He feels his career has benefited enormously from that chance encounter, and from taking the initial leap into an unfamiliar circumstance.

Thanks for taking the time, Jim!

Here, we showcase our success by sitting down for an Alumni Spotlight.

Greg Woodrum is a wealth of knowledge in the field of Utilities, as a Scheduler for American Electric Power. Greg had recently been laid off when one of our technical recruiters contacted him and encouraged him to consider a contract role with The Partners Alliance. The recruiter recognized that Greg’s strong background in construction scheduling and project cost estimation would be beneficial to our client.

Within three weeks of the initial call, Greg interviewed and was offered the job. Greg excelled in his role as Contract Scheduler and after a fifteen-months assignment, was offered full-time role. He accepted.

This was Greg’s first encounter with a recruiter, and it led to a positive career step for him. He says his experience was very much a positive one, he “sure would” recommend Partners Alliance services to colleagues or organizations.

Thanks for taking the time to talk to us, and good luck on your next steps, Greg!

In the wake of unrest...

A note from leadership :

We know that over the last few weeks, Black families in our country are hurting deeply. We are not comfortable being silent in the wake of this. We want it to be known that we stand with all those hurting in our community and will continue to drive positive change through our commitment to working toward equality for all of our employees and colleagues.. In the fight for an anti-racist world, we all share the responsibility to combat hate, discrimination, and unfair treatment of our fellow human beings.

Interview Tips Series

We all strive for success in our careers, but some of us struggle with the first phase of the process: interviewing. No matter how qualified you are, a less than ideal interview can seriously affect prospects.

But that’s where we come in! We know what employers want to see. We know what it takes to be successful.

Start with the ‘S.T.A.R.’ method of answering questions - Situation, Task, Action and Result. This will give your interviewer all of the information they need, in an organized, linear format which is easy to remember.

If you find your nerves are getting to you, the best way to give concrete examples of your proficiency is to describe a past situation that you are proud of.

A Message from Our President
